#wordCreate a tag
\#wordEscape a tag — writes a literal #word that is not indexed as a tag. The backslash is dimmed while editing and removed in preview and export.

Inline code and fenced code blocks also prevent #word from being treated as a tag.

Slash Formatting Palette

Type / at the start of a line or after a space to open the formatting palette, or press + / to open it for the current selection or caret without inserting a slash. It covers Headings 1–6, Bold, Italic, Inline Code, Strikethrough, Bulleted List, Numbered List, Task List, Blockquote, Insert Link, Code Block, Horizontal Rule, Insert Table, and Insert Image.
