Links & Tags on iPhone

Outerline for iPhone supports the same connected-document model as the Mac app: wiki links, deep links, backlinks, external links, tags, highlights, and document outlines all work together.

Create Wiki Links

Type @ or [[ in the editor to open the wiki link sheet. Pick a document to insert a canonical [[Document Title]] link.

• Recent documents appear first when the sheet opens.
• Searching filters by title, filename, and folder.
• The current document is excluded from suggestions.
• Closing the sheet leaves your typed text unchanged.

Use Deep Links

Outerline deep links use the outerline:// scheme. Copy a link when you want to jump back to a specific document, folder, heading, line, or highlight from another app.

You can copy links from document row actions, the editor actions menu, and inspector rows such as headings.

Inspect Links and Backlinks

Open the editor inspector and choose the Links tab to see connections for the current document. The Links tab can show inbound backlinks, outbound wiki or deep links, and external URLs. Tapping an internal link opens the target document; links that include a heading, line, or annotation jump to that location.

Use Tags

Add inline tags by typing hashtags such as #meeting or #idea in a document. Tags appear in the Library's Tags section, where you can browse documents that use a tag.

To write a literal hashtag without creating a tag, wrap it in inline code or escape it as needed in markdown.

Use Markup

The Markup tab in the inspector shows highlights and comments for the current document. Tapping an entry closes the sheet and jumps the editor to the marked text.
