Outerline 1.2.7
Summary
macOS
All Documents and tag lists now show each document’s folder, and document rows drop their tag pills for cleaner metadata. Writing no longer triggers false “External Changes Detected” warnings, and typing a space after @ or / keeps you writing instead of searching. The unused Default Document Name setting is gone, and screens refresh more precisely as you work.
iOS
All Documents and tag lists now show each document’s folder, and document rows drop their tag pills. New notes start blank instead of with an “Untitled” heading, and a save that partly fails no longer leads to a false conflict on the next save. Screens refresh more precisely as you work.
macOS
Improvements
- Folder context in document lists. All Documents, All Tags, and filtered tag lists show a folder symbol and name after the date. Long folder names use the available space and truncate only when needed. Document rows no longer show tag pills; tags in the sidebar and tag filters remain available. The optional word count keeps its place at the end of the row.
- More precise screen updates. The editor, sidebar, document list, search, and menu commands now refresh only when the information they show changes. Search timing, library watching, and saving behave as before.
- Removed the Default Document Name setting, which no longer had any effect. New documents remain blank drafts, named from their first line when first saved.
Fixes
- Keep typing after a literal
@or/. A space immediately after either symbol now closes its palette, keeps the symbol and space in your document, and returns you to the editor, so text like “the event is @ 620 Jones” continues normally. Spaces within an existing search still work for multiword note titles and formatting commands, and[[link searches and the Command-/ palette are unchanged. - Fixed “External Changes Detected” appearing at random while writing, with the “disk” version showing your text from just before the last autosave. Outerline no longer mistakes its own autosave for an outside edit; real changes from other apps and devices are still caught.
- Fixed menu commands sometimes reflecting a window other than the active one.
iOS
Improvements
- Folder context in document lists. All Documents, All Tags, and filtered tag lists show a folder symbol and name after the date. Long folder names use the available space and truncate only when needed. Document rows no longer show tag pills; tag filtering remains available. The Library’s own documents and ordinary folder lists leave out the redundant folder name.
- New documents start blank. New notes no longer begin with a “# Untitled” heading. The note is renamed from its first line when saved, as before.
- More precise screen updates. The editor, Library, and account screens now refresh only when the information they show changes, and opening the editor no longer repeats setup work.
Fixes
- Fixed a false conflict after a save that partly failed, for example when renaming an Untitled note from its title. The next save offered your own autosaved text as a competing version; Outerline now recognizes its own write and saves your newer edits.
- Fixed a case where the editor could keep redrawing itself after a renamed note was opened.
