Outerline 1.2.6
Summary
macOS
Switch libraries from the File menu and discard recovered edits for the current library in one step. Starred now stays in step with Recently Deleted. Moving a starred note to Recently Deleted removes its star, old entries for deleted notes are cleaned up, and restored notes come back unstarred. Changes to Starred and Recently Deleted from your other devices arrive without restarting Outerline, and opening a library waits for its iCloud data to download.
iOS
Switch libraries from the Library menu, preview documents without opening the editor, and discard recovered edits for the current library in one step. Returning to a previously loaded library keeps titles and previews visible while content refreshes. The note’s title and filename sit centered at the top of the editor, renames confirm with a message, and going back from a note shows its new title in the Library right away. Starred stays in step with Recently Deleted, even across devices. Going back quickly from a new note no longer flashes Recovered Edits or reopens the note.
macOS
Improvements
- Switch libraries from the File menu. File → Library → Switch Library, above Export Backup, lists remembered libraries with a checkmark beside the current one. Switching asks for confirmation and saves your edits first. Manage… opens Settings → General with Manage Libraries showing, and unavailable libraries open their recovery options. If Rename Library or an Account sheet is open in Settings, Manage Libraries waits until it closes.
- Discard all recovered edits at once. When two or more recovered copies belong to the current library, Recovered Edits offers Discard All from This Library… with confirmation. It leaves your notes, other libraries’ recovered edits, and unreadable copies untouched. Save as New Note, Export, and Discard remain available for individual copies.
Fixes
- Fixed a starred note staying in the saved Starred list after it was moved to Recently Deleted. Old entries for deleted notes are cleaned up, and restoring a note leaves it unstarred.
- Fixed changes to Starred and Recently Deleted from other devices not arriving until Outerline was restarted or its hidden metadata folder was downloaded in Finder.
- Made opening a library wait for its iCloud metadata to download, keeping the selected library and its state.
- Fixed a failed folder deletion removing stars from notes that weren’t deleted.
iOS
Improvements
- Switch libraries from the Library menu. When more than one library is remembered, the ellipsis menu includes Switch Libraries above View Options. Libraries appear alphabetically with a checkmark beside the current one. Manage opens library management directly, switching saves your edits first, and unavailable libraries offer recovery options.
- Preview documents directly from the Library. Press and hold a document and choose Preview below Star/Unstar without opening the editor. Available in Library, Starred, folders, All Documents, tag lists, and search results, excluding Recently Deleted. The full-screen preview shows the title and filename, uses your selected preview theme, and has a blue eye button on the right to return to the Library.
- Centered the note’s title and filename at the top of the editor. They stay centered when buttons like Undo appear.
- Added a “Renamed to…” confirmation when you rename a document or folder. Long names in rename and move confirmations are shortened to one line.
- Made going back from a note show its new title and preview in the Library right away.
Fixes
- Fixed a starred note staying in the saved Starred list after it was moved to Recently Deleted, including on another device. Old entries for deleted notes are cleaned up, and restored notes stay unstarred.
- Fixed Starred cleanup after a failed deletion or sync. Valid stars are kept, and cleanup for confirmed deletions is retried.
- Fixed the Recovered Edits button briefly appearing when you went back quickly from a new note.
- Fixed a new note sometimes reopening on its own when you went back quickly.
- Smoother switching between libraries. Returning to a previously loaded library preserves titles and preview text for unchanged notes, avoiding a flash of filenames and empty previews while content refreshes.
