Outerline 1.2.11

Summary

Tags are faster and more dependable on Mac and iPhone, with changes appearing right away and saving automatically. On iPhone, notes now reopen exactly where you left off, and web pages saved from Safari land in the library you’ve selected. This update also retires the Mac writing goal and smooths over notes deleted on another device.

macOS

Improvements

  • Tag changes appear in the sidebar and in open notes right away, without waiting for a full library rescan. Tag edits save automatically shortly after you stop typing, and renaming, deleting, or recoloring a tag updates immediately.
  • Tag edits are more reliable: newer changes are never overwritten by older ones, unsaved text in open notes is preserved, and tag colors stay with the library they were set in.
  • Removed the writing goal from the document status bar and Settings → Editor. Word and character counts, along with their visibility settings, remain available.

Fixes

  • Fixed the “Document unavailable” banner briefly appearing when an open note is deleted on another device. Outerline now waits for syncing to settle before showing it, while still pausing saves and keeping any unsaved edits recoverable.

iOS

Improvements

  • Notes reopen where you left off, with your cursor, selection, and scroll position restored, even after relaunching the app. Your place holds after rotating or changing the font size, survives renaming or moving a note, and opens directly at that position without first showing the top of the note. Links to a specific section, outline item, or highlight still take you to that spot.
  • Tag changes appear in the sidebar and in open notes right away. Tag edits save automatically shortly after you stop typing, renaming, deleting, or recoloring a tag updates immediately, and unchanged notes are skipped for faster updates in larger libraries.

Fixes

  • Fixed saving a web page from Safari’s share sheet showing folders from other iCloud libraries. The location picker now shows only the selected library’s folders, and pages save into that library. Open Outerline once after updating before sharing from Safari.
  • Restored a smaller, leading-aligned Format title in the formatting sheet, without truncation.
